THE DEPUTY MINISTER, HON. PHILLY MAPULANE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES A CYBERLAB AT PHAKELA COMBINED SCHOOL IN NORTH WEST PROVINCE

As part of the broad Department of Communications and Digital Technologies’ Back-toSchool Campaign for the year 2024, the Deputy Minister, Honourable Philly Mapulane will officially open a cyberlab at Phakela Combined School in the City of Matlosana, Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, North West Province.

The national cyberlab programme is an initiative of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA); and is aimed at investing in the creation and expansion of smart schools. This is also aligned to the DCDT’s vision of having SITA reasserting itself as the leader in driving ICT transformation in government.

The lab is envisioned to enhance the learners’ academic development and teachers’ learning materials through the internet connectivity that is provided in conjunction with the cyberlab infrastructure.

The cyberlab will also benefit local schools such as Ba-Galotlhare High School which is situated not far from Phakela Combined School which will use the opportunity for the leaners to study Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.
