THE MINISTER OF COMMUNICATIONS AND DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES, HON. MONDLI GUNGUBELE ATTENDS 2023 G20 DIGITAL ECONOMY MINISTERIAL MEETING IN BENGALURU, INDIA

The Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Mr Mondli Gungubele, will be attending the 2023 G20 Digital Economy Ministerial meeting to be held in Bengaluru, India from 18 to 19 August 2023.

The Digital Economy Working Group which is tasked with formulating a draft Ministerial declaration for adoption by the G20 Ministers which will precede the Ministerial meeting and South Africa is represented by the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies.

During the Ministerial meeting, the Ministers will have the opportunity to comment on the outcomes and to share their perspectives on how best to realize the potential and harness the opportunities of the Digital Economy, in line with the priorities identified for 2023, namely: Digital Public Infrastructure, Cyber Security in Digital Economy, and Digital Skilling.

This year’s G20 Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting is expected to shape the discussions around Digital Economy ahead of the G20 Summit by Heads of States and Government scheduled to take place from the 9 to10 September 2023 in New Delhi, India.

The Minister will participate in various activities and have several bilateral meetings with representatives of various states as a way of strengthening relations and sharing objectives on Digital Infrastructure towards economic success.
